Since 6th May 1999 when Greyhound Racing was introduced by Nguyen Ngoc My immigrated to Australia in the early 70’s fronting a business the Vabis Group ( building construction company which failed to meet any deadline with government work) he returned to Vietnam introducing the Greyhound and Horse Racing Industry in Vietnam and Cambodia. With the help of John Bell his wife and John Newell, who helped start greyhound breeding in Vietnam, was still works for GRNSW as a trackside vet. My was granted a 30 year license in 1999 . 800 Greyhounds were exported to Vietnam being are exported and Breeding Facility setup with NO rehoming or adoption every happening.

The heinous side to greyhound racing in Vietnam was exposed in 2015 with a video showing greyhounds being poisoned and then dumped in a hole. GRNSW did an inquiry into greyhound exports in March last year and it has not been released to the public.
179 people were charged with exporting greyhounds but there is no public record of their penalties. Four people received 450 charges and there is no record of their penalties.

Dr Newell had chief involvement in the set up of greyhound racing in Vietnam, a country that has been exposed for mass killing of greyhounds by use of lethal poison, Ecotraz, causing greyhounds to slowly die in horrific pain.
It was reported Since 2000, My has imported 200 greyhound dogs from Australia, which have given birth to 400 dogs. Around 350 of the total of 600 dogs take part in races.
